the way I remember it, there was an actor wearing a mocap suit, or one of those green suits, and he and Aragorn did fight, and it was going to be Sauron that he was fighting. However, they decided to not have Sauron fight Aragorn, but they had already filmed the scene, so they digitally placed a troll in, the troll we see him fighting.
Remember how Aragorn says "let the Lord of the black lands come forth!"?
its somewhere in the RotK EE behind the scenes.

Theres some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and its worth fighting for.
