'No, I didn't. I said that you were taking the statement out of context, and then I explained what the context was.

Ah I see. My apologies but 'out of context' to me suggests the immediate context of a given text, considering that one can alter the meaning by quoting selectively from something. Plus you noted that I had forgotten to number the letter, which is true, but I wasn't trying to hinder folks from checking a fuller context in the letter.

Not that you said I was. I take your meaning.

By the way, when I wrote 'it's rather easy' above I meant the idea, not that I expressed things easily, necessarily. I just mean: people sometimes make sweeping remarks if what they are saying is generally true [many of the Great Rings do confer invisibility]... and an exception is neither here nor there to the hearer [thus why bring it up when Gandalf is talking about invisibility and fading, as Frodo's Ring does confer invisibility in any case].

Or maybe it's not easy. I don't know anymore Smile
