Extended editions-formats? Can't Post

Ok, so I know I have a tendency to be low on the technology food chain (given that most of the videos I own are still VHS, since they are much cheaper at thrift stores than buying dvd's in store), but I do have a dvd player.

However, it is not a blue ray player. Weird, huh? Tongue

Is there going to be an EE of AUJ that IS compatible with just regular dvd players? I saw the pre-order for the blue ray AUJ EE on Amazon, however I did not see any pre-order or anything for a regular dvd player version. Are they not doing a regular dvd EE? Will I have to buy a blue ray player just so I can watch the EE????? (I live in the US as a side note- so will need something compatible with that territory).

I know I will likely have to get blue ray player eventually, but will a blue ray dvd work on a laptop? I tend to watch TH and LOTR movies on my laptop anyway, since I can see the small details better and since I don't have nor want a tv in my room so I use my laptop in my room to watch movies.

I just would hate to have to buy a blue ray player when my current dvd player still works just fine. However, not getting AUJ EE is not an option for me, so will I have to plan for BOTH purchases, or are they going to be kind to those of us who still rely on "old" technology?

And is this version available in the US?

Isn't it beautiful? [In reply to] Can't Post

I really like the cover. However, its what's on the inside that matters. I'll wait and see what people say who have seen it via internet stream in October before I decide whether I'm getting it or not.

"I've found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk, that keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because Im afraid, and he gives me courage. - Gandalf the Grey.

"Do not be afraid Mithrandir, if ever you should need my help, I will come." - Lady Galadriel.

Laptops and Blu Ray... [In reply to] Can't Post

I know the DVD option pointed out by others will meet your needs, but just as a note: if the cd drive on your laptop is marked as a blu ray device (either physically or in windows explorer (assuming windows)), it will work (mine is - but I paid a premium for that). If it is only marked "DVD", then it won't. But then, if your laptop doesn't have an HD screen, then it really doesn't matter.
