Walk to Rivendell and Beyond: There and Back Again Challenge! Can't Post

It's another opportunity for the good folk of TORn to support and encourage each other as we walk, bike, swim, and otherwise exercise our way around Middle Earth. As you'll see below in my progress note for the There and Back Again group challenge, we're about to reach our biggest milestone, about three months early. How should we celebrate? Victory lap? Gatorade over Gandalf's head? What say you? Wink

There and Back Again
Group Challenge Progress

Miles reported last week: 72.33
Cumulative miles: 17,008.31
Miles along the journey: 1968.89
Miles out of the Rivendell: 291.89

Can you believe it? We're less than 100 miles from Bag End! Doubling those miles to get both Bilbo and Gandalf there, our group should reach the end of our journey by Bilbo and Frodo's birthday. And this on a challenge we were hoping to finish by December this year. Woohoo!

My progress:
Miles covered this week: 8
Cumulative miles: 740
Goal: There and Back Again!

So the miles I've posted and the ones you're not seeing from the weeks I missed sharing Beamer and my stats include hikes, swimming, marching in a parade and, for Beamer, the return of PE and dance classes. Whew! Being back on school time is taking some getting used to, but I'm glad to have a regular schedule to rely on again. Now, I just need to work more activity into that schedule!

Beamer's progress:
Miles covered this week: 11
Cumulative miles: 742
Goal: Group Challenge

I have some miles [In reply to] Can't Post

I last posted July 25 and since then I have an additional 164.85 miles, for a personal total of 541.85. This puts me in mid eagle-flight, out of the frying pan and into the fire. Nice view from up here.

This was a walking challenge month in the fitness group at work, so we were trying to average at least 7500 steps per day (just under 5 miles at my pace length): I managed an average of 10038 (10000 was my personal goal). My highest daily total was almost 9 miles, on a day I walked home (partway) from work. I am hoping to keep it up even though the challenge ends tomorrow. It's not as easy for me when it gets cold.

I think we ought to celebrate with some cake and ice cream. Gramma?

"That is one thing that Men call 'hope.' Amdir we call it, 'looking up.' But there is another which is founded deeper. Estel we call it, that is 'trust.' It is not defeated by the ways of the world, for it does not come from experience, but from our nature and First Being. If we are indeed the Eruhin, the Children of the One, then He will not suffer Himself to be deprived of His own, not by any enemy, not even by ourselves. This is the last foundation of estel, which we keep even when we contemplate the End. Of all His designs the issue must be for His children's joy."

Posting on the run! Zooommmm [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry I'm so late AND late last week (just posted that one, too)

I've been working on TORn's Fundraiser BIG TIME this past week and all this week. So I've got tiny little miles... and I miss my movement! It's all good, though. We're having GREAT success on the eBay auction!!

We're almost at our milestone! WOW! I think with all the dieting and exercise, we should have an Ice Cream Social or a potluck! We couldn't get there without you, Arandiel. You've been so great about keeping us on the Road! *hugs*

I hope everyone doing great :) I've gotta get back to the eBay Fundraiser. HANG IN THERE!

Miles covered: 5 miles *shakes head*
Cumulated miles: 23118
Goal: #2 Unexpected Journey Individual Challenge and contributing to the Group :)

Yay! We rock ;D [In reply to] Can't Post

That's awesome! I'm so excited to hear that. Getting revved up for our victory cheer! What to do to celebrate? Hmm. Well, I just had an idea. We could figure out the distance between the Shire and Frogmorton, like Bilbo mentioned before getting hauled onto a pony, and do that distance just as a extra fun thing. Or do like a google hangout, etc. for all the members. What do you think?

Well anyway, here are my stats for the last two weeks. Been trying to keep myself busy.

miles last two weeks: 18.21
cumulative: 1341.55
goal: There and back again group challenge!

Oh, and another idea, if any of us are able to go to The One Expected Party, we can make sure to meet each other there and do our victory cheer for real. ;D That'd be cute.

Hopefully my numbers will increase over the oncoming weeks, but we'll have to see. I might have jury duty tomorrow. Just have to do the best I can!Tongue

Gatorade over Gandalf's head is both a very amusing and alarming thing to picture...I wonder if he'd turn us into something unnatural.

"It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And you didn't want to know the end...for how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But then you realize in the end it's just a passing thing, this shadow. A new day will come! And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stuck with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. The folk in those stories a lot of chances of turnin' back only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holdin' on to something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for!"
