If they used their staffs in defensive plays, I'd watch that. / [In reply to] Can't Post

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

There just had to be five .... [In reply to] Can't Post

Not sure which Vala, or perhaps it was Eru Iluvatar himself who decided it, but one of them was obsessive-compulsive about solving puzzles, especially math puzzles in which you're supposed to fill in the missing number in a numerical pattern.

Rings: 1, 3, __, 7, 9. *lightbulb turns on* "FIVE Maiar emissaries there shall be...!" (somebody somewhere does a facepalm)

“That hobbit has a pleasant face,
His private life is a disgrace.
I really could not tell to you,
The awful things that hobbits do.”

I'm glad those 3 can carry the team [In reply to] Can't Post

Sadly, the other two players, the Blue Wizards, are nowhere to be found on court.

We know Gandalf would be able to hold his own [In reply to] Can't Post

...against the Ballhog. *dribble dribble* "Aiee! A Ballhog!" (thank you Harvard Lampoon!)

(BTW true fact: a ball hog is a player who does not pass. Get it?)

Even though the Ballhog will likely try an offensive foul, causing Gandy to fall.... luckily he's quite adept at rebounding.

And Radagast will be ready to zig zag unpredictably near low post....

Saruman could probably play swingman but at some point he might try a ball reversal that results in a turnover. Sigh...

The Blue Wizards are probably decent at fadeaway shots, but will end up benched due to too much (wait for it) .... travelling.

What about staff lacrosse?// [In reply to] Can't Post

Is there a Tolkien topic that you have wanted to look into more deeply and write about your thoughts on it? If so, we'd like to hear from you for the next TORn Amateur Symposium- coming in November. Happy writing!
