Thranduil's design/outfit Can't Post

I love this character. I love him in the novel, and I think he looks great in the film. But whenever I see Thranduil (film) "Fashion" by David Bowie starts playing in my head. Am I the only one who thinks of Bowie when I see Thranduil? I think it's his outfit, the way it's designed reminds me of one of Bowie's costumes from his Ziggy days. Anyone else notice this/feel this way too? Or am I just nuts? Tongue

Hadn't thought of that. [In reply to] Can't Post

It does look kind of Bowie-ish. Keen eye. I remember reading in the Hobbit chronicles book that Bifur's hair was based on Keith Richards. So I wouldn't put a Bowie influence on Thranduil's character design out of the realm of possibility.

Bowie would have made a great Thranduil. [In reply to] Can't Post

I mentioned this several times before the casts were announced. He has the right "other-worldly" quality.

Just kidding. Smile

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

well Bowie has played a Goblin King [In reply to] Can't Post

in the film Labyrinth, and he had a strangely disturbing Elven quality.

The Lack of any Facial Hair, in direct opposition to our Hairy Heros.

Always leaves room for that... What are you Really?
Feeling...In particular is the Fact they are exactly
the Opposite of Dwarves..Tall, Slender, Light on their feet,
Steathty, Quiet, Quick movements,,,everything the dwarves are NOT!
Therefore, 2 approaches to their reality are diametically opposed
and always will be?
So, this could explain their...
NOT seeing Eye to Eye.

Forget spoiler warnings, what this board really needs are Ezpeleta warnings. Shocked
