NEWS?...Denver ComicCon Can't Post

"..About 6,000 fans waiting in line for hours to get into Denver Comic Con on Friday
were turned away by order of the fire marshal and convention center staff.
Almost 15,000 people formed a snaking line around the convention center,
spilling across downtown Denver, which prompted the order, said Ami Heinrich,
spokeswoman for Denver Comic Con.
"Some people were livid," she said. "Everyone who already had a ticket got in."

Doors to the event opened at 3 p.m. Two hours earlier, there was already a line wrapping around the entire convention center.
(The Largest Building in Colorado!)"

Editor's Note: in only it's second year, it's Huge! Stan Lee had to cancel, but
William Shatner replaced him.
This Makes perfect sense, since Denver is the Only major city in a 600 mile square area,
from Kansas City to Salt lake City.

Bomby wants to go Sunday...
Maybe meet Badadli Jewelry from Salt Lake City?
And Thank them for my Arkenstone!

Jus' Checked their Exhibitor List? [In reply to] Can't Post

No Badali Jewerly?
But the "Wizard's Chest" is there.

"The Wizard’s Chest is not “just a costume store,”
but a well-known specialty store with more than thirty years of history.
Originally inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy,
the store capitalized on the idea of an imaginary world in a place called Middle Earth –
a fantastical escape from the cold concrete of the ‘real world’;
a place where the childish spirit could run free.

Much gaming going on there? [In reply to] Can't Post

If so, you might want to see if anyone is running a session of Cubicle 7's The One RIng - Adventures over the Edge of the Wild. It's a pencil-and-paper rpg set in the years just after the events of The Hobbit. The principle setting is the region of the North bordered by the Misty Mountains and the Iron Hills, reaching to Southern Mirkwood. The rules are pretty easy from the player's perspective. It uses specially designed dice, but one can make do with six ordinary 6-siders and one normal 12-sided die.

Word is DragonCon may have to limit tickets next year. [In reply to] Can't Post

It's just too packed; the hotels where they hold it (five of them!) won't let you inside if you aren't a hotel guest or a DragonCon pass holder. It gets really dangerous, although the DC fans tend to be pretty mellow in line. Mostly because Atlanta around Labor Day is bloody hot, and between crowds and costumes, people drop like flies.

I don't go to cons, but I was tempted when I heard [In reply to] Can't Post

that George Takei was going to be there. He's become one of my heroes in recent years.

I just don't like the idea of all those crowds. [In reply to] Can't Post

My grown kids look forward all year to Nan Desu Kan; it's like a pilgrimage to them. But standing in line to meet celebrities doesn't appeal to me, though I am glad my daughter dragged me to the Terry Pratchett book signing when he was in Denver.
