could the black arrow of bard, be something like the sword of elendill? Can't Post

I just thought this in the shower!Blush
the black arrow of Bard, apparently has been passed down from his forefathers, and has always been retrieved, after being shot. could it be that due to its significance in killing smaug, that a small little idea can come in to place, that the arrow has been passed down to Bard to do him favour, and reclaim the line of Girion? Just like the sword of Elendill, being reforged and passed on to Aragorn to aid him in reclaiming the throne of Gondor....
I don't know its probably, just simple boldog hooha, but what do you think?

It still wouldn't seem believable [In reply to] Can't Post

They have to find something to make it seem like more than just an easy way to end Smaug...

They could make it the black harpoon ? Or maybe the black appache Helicopter ?

You're right...! [In reply to] Can't Post

Tolkien does give the arrow a "heritage" similar to that of the swords he highlights. In this case, it's the end of the story for the arrow, whereas the sword of Elendil gets remade. I imagine from the book description that the arrow ends up deep in the dragon carcass, underwater...and never recovered.

Guessing [In reply to] Can't Post

If the arrow will be used to kill Smaug (and one never knows with PJ) then perhaps it has a magic to it that will kill the dragon -- either a spell or a poison. Or it could drive a diamond into his heart and kill him that way.

As long as they don't have to force him to take it. [In reply to] Can't Post

Because he's been spending his whole life running away from his destiny. Crazy
