Aule [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, I think you're right and Aule is part of the same theme - he gets carried away and exercises his gift for making, without permission - but as you say, he is willing to let go, and so it ends well and we get the Dwarves in all their glory!

Even more similar to a Silmaril [In reply to] Can't Post

In the movie itīs different, but in the book is described just like a Silmaril

"Dear friend good bye, no tears in my eyes. So sad it ends, as it began"
Queen

I believe he did has a Silmaril in his mind... [In reply to] Can't Post

...when he wrote The Hobbit and the Arkenstone, but for some reason he didnīt clearify it was a Silmaril, probably because he though those other stories, or The Silmarillion would never be published (as it actually happened when he was alive) So he didnīt get into much detail about that complex story behind the Arkenstone (a Silmaril in his mind)

You are right, we are thousand minds analising what one mind created, probably he missed that point or didnīt develop it, or didnīt think it was that important.

"Dear friend good bye, no tears in my eyes. So sad it ends, as it began"
