Braga & Goldscale Worshippers Can't Post

Do we have any information about the new character of Braga (played by Michael Mitchinson)? I remember reading somewhere that there's gonna be a games workshop set called "Braga & Goldscale Worshippers" that was before AUJ came out and Braga was also (before the three films thing) set to be part of AUJ.

ABOUT BRAGA - confirmed:
I'm not sure if this "Goldscale Worshippers"-thing is believeable or less but it is confirmed that Micheal Mitchinson will play a character called Braga. Is he a Man of Lake Town? Is he a Dwarf? Is he one of the Woodmen or of Beorns people? Do we know anything about him yet? Mitchinson is 191cm tall but does it tell us anything while Richard Armitage is 189 cm? I think it says nothing.

ABOUT THE WORSHIPPERS - not (yet) confirmed:
If... and it is a big "if"... there will be a group of people who worship 'Goldscale" (perhaps another name for Smaug "The Magnificent" and "The Golden") what are they? Men of Lake Town who try to propitiate the Dragon? Bringing him sacrifices? Perhaps they even try to kill/stop Thorin & Co in Lake Town from leaving for Erebor? After all there are many people (even in the White Council) who better not want Smaug to wake up. It would totally make sense to me that we see something like an intrigue in Lake Town. Perhaps even Alfrid or the Master himself are members of this cult?

It's important to note that nothing of this (except for Bragas name and actor) is confirmed yet but I think it would give us a totally new view on Middle-earth... There are Men who worship Sauron (Easterlings, Corsairs, Haradrim)... why shouldn't there be some who worship Smaug?

The information regarding the miniature merchandise were proven to be false [In reply to] Can't Post

This list, which were supposedly Games Workshop miniatures turned out to be false.

I suspect that the "Goldscale Worshippers" is also false, therefore. However, as you say, it has been confirmed that Braga will appear in the film/s.

Carne has said here that Braga is not a Dwarf. Carne has also said here that Braga can be seen chasing Bard during the DOS sneak peek.

Someone will have to go back and see if we can get a screencap!

I don't think screencaps are allowed [In reply to] Can't Post

But if anyone does have the original DOS preview, you can see Braga at ~27:20 (he's not in the version on PJ's Facebook page).

He's definitely a man - stubble, slightly rounded, hair the same length as Bard/Aragorn/Boromir etc. Wearing regal looking clothes - purples and reds - similar to the clothes the Dwarves leave Laketown in.

Since he is chasing Bard, I think you've got the right idea:

Perhaps they even try to kill/stop Thorin & Co in Lake Town from leaving for Erebor?

But instead of preventing them from leaving, perhaps they don't want the Dwarves in Laketown at all. Since The Master is also shocked to hear that Dwarves have arrived in Laketown, perhaps Braga (and co.) are his personal guards?

I really hope there is a dragon cult [In reply to] Can't Post

I really like the idea that the dragon attack damanges the community's psychology so much that some of them start worshipping him. It would make Smaug even more terrifying when some people think he's divine.

With everything else going on... [In reply to] Can't Post

I doubt they will have much time to include a dragon cult. Not to mention that it would be a pretty big departure from the source material. It's not impossible that it could have been going on behind the scenes in Lake-town, but I'd rather they not stray too far from what Tolkien wrote in The Hobbit and the appendices. Keeping Azog alive is more than enough padding for me.

‘As they came to the gates Cirdan the Shipwright came forth to greet them. Very tall he was, and his beard was long, and we was grey and old, save that his eyes were keen as stars; and he looked at them and bowed, and said ‘All is now ready.’

Perhaps the most fascinating Individual in Middle Earth
