This might be useful for the list: [In reply to] Can't Post

Many moons ago I posted the following topic on the hobbit message board

Anyone else noticed all the links between the different cast members?

http://newboards.theonering.net/...?post=427047;#427047

Its a little out of date but might be interesting reading for some people

‘As they came to the gates Cirdan the Shipwright came forth to greet them. Very tall he was, and his beard was long, and we was grey and old, save that his eyes were keen as stars; and he looked at them and bowed, and said ‘All is now ready.’

Perhaps the most fascinating Individual in Middle Earth

Oh, I must correct myself :) [In reply to] Can't Post

I was watching AUJ (yet again) and realized the microscope is shown right after Radagast realizes that Sebastian's illness is caused by magic: "a dark and powerful Magic". He then turns and looks at a window, where the shadows of the spiders are seen. That is when the microscope is seen, on that windowsill!

'"Never laugh at live dragons, Bilbo you fool!" he said to himself, and it became a favourite saying of his later, and passed into a proverb.'

Metal workers in Erebor [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not sure what term is used for those working metal (smiths?), but I noticed a couple of scenes of Dwarves fashioning metal. Right after the Gem-workers use scene there are several Dwarves hammering a lump of molten metal on a pedestal/anvil; then a Dwarf holds up a lump of hot metal on a tongs and two huge hammers swing down from both sides and hit it! Again, maybe not enough to include in a geeky list but it hadn't been mentioned before. I suppose, if we include every scene, we'll be re-telling the entire movie! Smile

Thanks again, grammaboodawg!

Oh... trust me... [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm WAY struggling with time!! Just look at my kitchen, bedroom, living room, pile of laundry and yard for evidence of that ;)

If I have the chance to play... putting off "grown up" responsibilities will always win!

new observation [In reply to] Can't Post

I need to watch it again without my one year old and four year old's "help", but I am pretty sure that:

Even though Gandalf is setting silverware for each place at the table when he and Ori are setting the table together before supper, the only dwarf to actually use the utensils and not their hands is Thorin, who arrives AFTER supper and the table has been cleared Smile

Whoa! Great catch!!! :D [In reply to] Can't Post

I never noticed that! Not even Gandalf, IIRC!

They use them more for the Bend the Knives song ;)

*high five* WELL DONE!

a few more [In reply to] Can't Post

Right after Bilbo tries to get Oin to put his grandpa Mungo's chair back, if you watch subtitles and listen carefully you hear him say "that is a book not a coaster" then immediately afterward "Put that map down!"

Two more things Bilbo tries to "save" from the dwarves Wink

Tauriel (as her hair catches during BO5A)- Ah, now I understand why you keep your beard so short, master Kili!
Kili: Um, because it grows slowly? (glares at her for perceived insult)
Tauriel: Because your arrows don't get tangled in your *^%*(^$%* beard every time you shoot! (more curses as it gets further tangled)
Kili: Um, YEAH! That's it! That's why I keep my beard short! (strides off triumphantly with a huge grin on his face, still shooting arrows as the cursing and tangles continues behind him)

Tauriel keeps fighting the tangles on the battlefield long after Dain takes the throne and Dale is rebuilt. Frodo takes the ring to Morder and once Sauron is defeated she FINALLY gets the last arrow out.
