my store of auj lore grows apace...

plus, nori's one of my favorite dwarves, so it's nice to know he got some hero-time.

cheers --

aka. fili orc-enshield

the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield."

this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel

Nori doesn't just yell [In reply to] Can't Post

I believe he also holds up Orcrist so Thorin can pull the sword from the scabbard and block the Goblin King's blow.

It reminds me of Thorin blocking Azog's blows with the oak branch at Azinulbizar. It shows how tough and *solid* Thorin must be.

I think Nori ends up re-arming a lot of the dwarves in that scene. Putting those quick hands to good use (:

WOW! That happens so fast - I had to slow to 1/7 speed to see it, but you are EXACTLY right! An even better moment! Thanks so much for posting that detail! Angelic Yes, my personal opinion is that Thorin is quite solid Wink And our Nori is very johnny-on-the-spot there, tossing everyone a weapon! Fantastic.

That's funny, because I was just thinking [In reply to] Can't Post

that Jed is to PJ what Doug Jones is to Guillermo; his go-to Man of Many Faces (especially if there's prosthetics involved). Cool

Thanks for pointing this out - I had no idea! [In reply to] Can't Post

"A journalist once asked me what I would like my epitaph to be and I said I think I would like it to be 'He did very little harm'. And that's not easy. Most people seem to me to do a great deal of harm. If I could be remembered as having done very little, that would suit me." ~ Paul Eddington
