Hobbit AUJ Filming Locations - Small Update Can't Post

Silly, geeky excitement over an update on Google Maps. Noted an image update for 28 April 2012 for the location where the Trollshaws was filmed.

Denize Bluffs, Mangaotaki, NZ

The service roads are plainly visible in this image. It is on private property, as I understand, and permission must likely be obtained before venturing to the location.

Added also:

Sutherland Falls, Fiordland National Park, NZ

David's Knoll, Fiordland National Park, NZ

Production Locations on Google Maps

The Return of the King
The Two Towers
The Fellowship of the Ring

Luckily [In reply to] Can't Post

you can see those limestone cliffs either side of State Highway 3 as you drive along, and there's a public rest stop there too. You won't see the actual film location (that's towards the coast from the highway) but you do see some of those same spectacular cliffs.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Ah..... [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought that the eagles scene looked a lot like Fiordland. I have a short DVD film showing various parts of Fiordland, as taken from a helicopter and those scenes in the Hobbit reminded me of this. It is seriously beautiful but also seriously remote- unless you have a helicopter or are an extreme hiker! Sadly, I fall into neither category...
Thanks for posting these locations
