The Hobbit - An Unexpected franchise Can't Post

What if you had to cast the Hobbit movie with characters from different franchises? Who would you cast as who?

Here are a couple of obvious choices, first two of which have been mentioned on these boards numerous times and made me think of this (well, that, or sleep deprivation...):

Thorin: Played by a Klingon from "Star Trek"

Bolg: Played by Beastman from "the Masters of the Universe"

and, of course, Dumbledore from "Harry Potter" would be the obvious choice for Gandalf (altough there are other, more interesting choices, like Santa Claus, or Väinämöinen from "the Kalevala")

Who else? Maybe Obelix from "Asterix and Obelix" could pull off a pretty good Bombur.

Honestly I think [In reply to] Can't Post

I would have cast...

Ian McShane - Thorin Oakenshield (Hands down over Richard Armitage)
James McAvoy - Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman was always my first choice but since we are changing them)
the dwarfs would be actors like
Brendan Gleeson
Brian Blessed
Clancy Brown
Neil Thackaberry
Ron Pearlman
Derek Jacobi or Patrick Stewart as Gandalf (can't really imagine anyone but McKellan but the two I said are pretty good and could probably pull it off)

Bout all I can think of right now.

Yes, Sonic would make a pretty good Nori :) [In reply to] Can't Post

And if Bolg is played by Beastman, then maybe the Necromancer could be played by Skeletor. Smile

Well... [In reply to] Can't Post

I think there have already been discussions elsewhere re
Elrond played by Spock
Thranduil played by Franknfurter ( "he's a sweet Thransvestite")
What about Smaug played by Dragon from Shrek, to get some "feminine energy into the movies" or
Thorin's pony played by Donkey?
Thranduil's elk played by Bambi
Just a few random and definitely sleep deprived thoughts

No, there weren't any specific threads [In reply to] Can't Post

on this. One was a discussion of the sneak peek and I think there was another along the lines of Vulcans and elves, so just mentioned in passingSmile

Particularly after seeing their "Fairy Tale" episode, I always thought it would have been funny if The Monkees did a take on The Hobbit. Davy Jones would have made a ridiculously adorable Bilbo, Nesmith as Gandalf, Micky as Gollum, and Peter rotating as all of the dwarves. Crazy
