That would be sort of confusing. We see Beorn being tortured, and then when the dwarves arrive, he's perfectly fine? I suppose you're thinking that it's more like Gollum: Give people some history of Beorn before we meet him? Maybe, but that also sort of takes all the punch out of meeting him for the first time as Bilbo, Gandalf and the others visit. I doubt that sequence is going to be as slow and gradual as written, but there has to be some sense of wonder at finding this big guy way out in the wilderness by himself. We know from the actor that some kind of scene like that exists, but you're not going to see what I think you want to see. The whole sequence is going to be really interesting, and I expect to see some liberties taken with it by the production team. How and why Beorn doesn't like goblins and wargs can be told in other ways.
