I agree with your points [In reply to] Can't Post

in my earlier post in this thread, I felt that any coronation should be shown in flashback. Balin and Gandalf later visiting Bilbo and relating how life had been rebuilt in Erebor, Dale and Esgaroth and showing Dain's and Bard's respective crownings as a brief shot would be one good way of doing this IMHO. As you say, it's not about Dain really, the focus of the story is not just who gets to be King Under The Mountain at the end of the day, so Dain should not close out the trilogy with a big party.
