I wouldn't want the re-edited version [In reply to] Can't Post

It's part of the legacy, if you will. Personally I don't really need that consistency.

As for replacing Ian Holm's Bilbo with Martin Freeman's Bilbo finding the ring, I see why people would want to change it, but for me it's not an issue, since the whole Galadriel's voice-over stuff felt to me more like a 'dramatization of events' rather than 'scenes from the real events'. For example, I don't think the Elves, Dwarves and Men ever actually stood and held out their rings for the audience to see in that manner. So it's fine that the finding of the ring is 'reduced' to (old) Bilbo picking it up, and Gollum screaming "Lost!" in the background. That gets the point across.

I don't think I'd actually hate it if it ever comes out though...

I don't have a problem with it [In reply to] Can't Post

As people regularly say about the Movies, its not like they took away the book. You can still read it.

The same is true for an "Ultra Edition". You can still watch the TC and EE versions. Would one more variant be nice to see? Sure it would. I'm holding out hope fo a complete Ultra Edition after the Hobbit trilogy are finished. Maybe we'll finally see the footage of a beardless Aragorn meeting Arwen, the Wedding of Faramir and Eowyn, Legolas and Gimli at the glittering caves. The best time to do this is if they are re-editing the movie anyway. So yeah, bring it on!

I read somewhere [In reply to] Can't Post

that they had actually filmed Eowyn's and Faramir's wedding but they cut it. and no photos have ever been released. so If he does do a mega EE version i would love to see that along with the Glittering Caves stuff.

Bilbo doesn't see it fall from Gollums pocket... [In reply to] Can't Post

It is emphasized for the audience, but Bilbo is clearly surprised when he sees it on the floor.

I'm all for replacing Holm with Freeman in FOTR. It doesn't take anything away from Ian's performance, because he also portrays older Bilbo in The Hobbit. I think it would be a nice thing that would only make the films have better continuity. And Freeman is great as Bilbo! I love his and Ian's portrayals of the characters equally!

I think an epilogue (of sorts) would have been great at the end of ROTK [In reply to] Can't Post

And desperately needed for the loose ends to be tied up. My partner hasn't read the books, and whenever she watches the film is always confused by the Faramir-Eowyn romance.

Has she seen the extended edition? [In reply to] Can't Post

It's a bit more spelled out there (though she'll need plenty of endurance!).

I would be more than happy to see their wedding scene-- i really liked Faramir in the Trilogy, largely owing to David Wenham's fine portrayal (and i actually prefer the change they made to his character-- he wasn't so much seduced by the ring as he was considering his options, one being how it would change his father's view of him (no rock throwing, please)).

Even though scenes like this that we still have yet to see will most likely be relegated to a 'deleted scenes' section, i would actually love an *extended* extended edition!

Bilbo calling out for Frodo to answer the door in FOTR in the Shire [In reply to] Can't Post

There's also how in AUJ, Frodo clearly tells Bilbo that he's going to go wait for Gandalf to arrive, yet in FOTR, Bilbo is yelling for Frodo to answer the door like he doesn't know where he went.
