Further discussion of The Silmarillion? Can't Post

We've had a great reading festival so far, and a hearty thank you to all who've posted, answered posts, and read along. Would people like to continue, or take a break? I thought of asking this on the Pollantir, but it would be more self-contained to keep the question here in the Reading Room.

If you'd like to continue, please either PM me or reply to this thread. And, we'll need volunteers to take on the next chunk of 5 chapters. I'll be glad to take one myself. These are more dramatic, action-oriented chapters after the previous, more-descriptive ones that we've covered, so I imagine the conversations may go in new directions.

Chapter 6. Of FŽanor and the Unchaining of Melkor
Chapter 7. Of the Silmarils and the Unrest of the Noldor
Chapter 8. Of the Darkening of Valinor
Chapter 9. Of the Flight of the Noldor
Chapter 10. Of the Sindar

Darkening of Valinor, please! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd love to tackle this one, Curious. School's starting to slow down a little bit (or maybe I'm just getting it all under control Wink), so I'm hoping to jump back into these discussions. I've been skimming them a bit, but looking forward to digging in again.

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too.
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).

Great. How about somewhere around March 8? [In reply to] Can't Post

That gives us about a week for Weaver's Chapter 5 and a week for whoever takes Chapter 6. Thanks!

about the 8th for ch. 7 [In reply to] Can't Post

I was thinking about giving weaver's posts a bit more time; would you mind if I posted for ch. 6 around the 8th and we moved ch. 7 back a week?

Willing to do Ch 9 (Of the Flight of the Noldor), when we get there // [In reply to] Can't Post
