Hobbit Film Roundtable on Thursday in Milwaukee. Can't Post

Specifically, tomorrow's event is at Marquette University's Raynor Memorial Library, where Tolkien's manuscripts for The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Farmer Giles of Ham, and Mr. Bliss are housed.

I read this a while back at John Rateliff's blog but just noticed it doesn't seem to have been mentioned here.

The speakers are Yvette Kisor, Robin Reid, Edward Risden, and Richard West, and it starts at 4:30 p.m. More information here. It's free to attend, although seating is limited pre-registration is recommended (but I just heard it's not full yet). Are any Wisconsin (or perhaps Chicago) TORNadoes going to be in attendance?

Oh, I wish I could! [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a big work deadline, and can't get away. Sounds like something I would enjoy!

(and no remarks from anyone why I'm on TORN with a work deadline. I'm taking a break! Cool)

Working tomorrow... [In reply to] Can't Post

...but I've made the visit to Marquette to view the manuscripts twice. The first time was for a field trip. I took a class on Tolkien in college. That time they actually had the manuscripts OUT and you could handle them. The next time I went about a year later, I just went with my mom who is also a big Tolkien geek and they had the manuscripts behind a glass case.

Well, it was fun. [In reply to] Can't Post

The four Tolkien-scholar panelists all mostly enjoyed the film. I'll post a longer report later (sometime in the next couple weeks, I hope).
