I like your idea of the Wargs being corrupted wolves, much like Orcs are corrupted Elves. I don't think the Wargs' origin is ever discussed in the books, but it seems likely!

I wonder if there will be any good wolves to counter the Wargs, maybe some acquaintances of Radagast's or even Beorn's? But perhaps that's a bit too much to fit into the movies, they already have quite a lot of not-in-the-book material. Shocked
