I've had a wacom graphics tablet for years, and Photoshop 7. I like both (and would highly recommend them). However, I find I can't draw worth ^%$&%$ on the tablet, at least, not lines. I can paint with the airbrush, fix photos, dither drawings... but with linework I am far better with pencil (I also loathe pen and ink), Prismacolor penicl, or brush. I often do the sketch, Prismacolor line, erase pencil scribble, watercolor... then Photoshop in extras like corrections, type, etc. Working in layers helps, you can erase without erasing what you've already done. I also save each stage of a piece as a separate file so I can go back to an earlier version if I really screw it up. Photosho for Dummies far exceeds the actual Photoshop manual in excellence, and humor. OK, that's not about Ipads, but maybe some vague insights into other digital media.
Go outside and play...
