It's fine how it is. [In reply to] Can't Post

If you want a dance mix, I think you're going to be disappointed.

Yeah, no Aragorn either.

No dance mix ... [In reply to] Can't Post

just a few lines more. It need not be part of the film - but more as a standalone video clip

I see... [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, sure. why not?

I also think they're going to do more with the song's other verses, and I recall they do some new verses when they are in the mountain itself after Smaug is dead.

Almost correct... [In reply to] Can't Post

I hope the EE has the entire Misty Mountain song. I love it and want more.
About Aragorn and Arwen. The time frame in the book has Aragorn at about age 10. The movie time frame would have him at about 20. That is the time he returned from great deeds with the sons of Elrond and was told who he was. He then met Arwen in a glade and they fall in love. I understand that a scene like this was filmed for FOTR but was not used. It might fit in TABA.

I won't say that young Aragorn didn't hang out with Elladan and Elrohir, but his period of wandering did not begin until after he turned twenty and learned of his heritage. Aragorn was twenty-five when he and Gandalf the Grey met for the first time. We could conceivably see some version of that first meeting in either DoS or TaBA.

I was referring to this passage [In reply to] Can't Post

From the Appendix. It's page 371 in my paperback copy of ROTK.

"But when Estel was only 20 years of age, it chanced that he returned to Rivendell after great deeds in the company of the sons of Elrond; and Elrond looked at him and was pleased. . .

It then goes on to say that he tells Aragorn who he is and gave him the heirlooms of his house. Then Aragorn goes walking in Rivendell and meets Arwen.

I'd love to see this on film. Also the passage you mean which also occurs in the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen.

It explains a lot that Aragorn's father was also riding with Elrond's sons when he was slain by an orc-arrow. Besides knowing that the Enemy was seeking Isildur's heir, Elrond probably felt some responsibility for Arathorn's son and widow.

It's a shame that Tolkien didn't write more about this period of Aragorn's life. It is hard to imagine what great deeds he accomplished before his twentieth year. I suppose that he rescued travelers from hill-trolls, spoiled some orc-raids, and such-like. Maybe he made his first trip(s) across the Misty Mountains during this time (journeying as far as Lake-town or Erebor?).
