This is very true. [In reply to] Can't Post

And that is part of the lighter touch. It was not my main focus in the post, but it definitely was a significant factor, and I am glad you mentioned it. And, while there were a few unfortunate, over the top moments (the troll snot quickly devolved from giggle to gag inducing), much of it was humour in the vein of the novels. Loved Balin's dead pan answer to Bilbo's insincere, terse and perfunctory "I'm Sorry!". . . "Apology accepted." Lmao!

I would also add that quite a bit of humor and detail about the dwarves is added - which I enjoyed greatly!

"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!"

"Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

Why, to my mind, An Unexpected Journey greatly adds to rather than detracts from LOTR's fim legacy. AinurOlorin Send a private message to AinurOlorin Jan 30 2013, 2:04am
