PBS' show Nature--Wild Balkans has many allusions to Middle-earth . . . Can't Post

Did any fellow TORnsibs catch this show about the wildlife of the Balkans? The narrator describes that the geography of the Balkans peninsula is very much like Middle-earth of the 3rd age and that the creatures there resemble those mentioned in LotR. I liked the show and recommend it but you probably have to watch it in reruns. This episode of Nature aired last month. Check the archives of Nature for possible internet viewing.

Thank you for the link! [In reply to] Can't Post

I visited Croatia back in 2006 and have some Croatian ancestry, so I'm really interested in this. Can't wait to see it.

I didn't really see much wildlife there, but I did manage to go white water rafting on the Cetina river, which was incredible.

That was awesome! [In reply to] Can't Post

The Middle Earth references were constant and very silly, but occasionally so absurd they were funny. Amazing animals and landscapes, though. So many awesome birds and mammals!

Beautiful ! Most people are unfamiliar with the terrain and wildlife [In reply to] Can't Post

found in many corners of the world. I imagine most people have pre-concieved ideas about the Balkans - if any at all - and this film really expands that understanding. I certainly was not aware of this stunning landscape in Europe.
