Thorin & Co. (characterization) Precious Gems & Vala Can't Post

I think the Dwarves, themselves, would prefer to be represented by Precious Gems (than critters!). I think that some of them have a little Vala representation as well. [Critique... by all means]
The other topic was good by the way...

Gandalf:
Sapphire: Blue or Purple. when well cut is a brilliant gem in color and depth.
Patron Vala: ULMO, Lord of Waters, most willing to interviene in the affairs of Arda (earth). Like Ulmo, Gandalf is very in tune with the will of Iluvatar (the Creator) and has been to the limits of the Heavens.

Thorin:
Opal: Opaque clear white. like a diamond yet has a misty brilliance with a unique color. [the Arkenstone looked like a giant Opal]
Manwe Sulimo: Lord of Air / King of the Valari and great arch-foe of Melkor. Like Manwe, Thorin is the champion of his people as well as having a great heart.

Azog:
Ruby: Red and Purple. An esquisite gem with a fierce color.
Melkor. Lord of Evil / "rises in Power" the devil that wanted dominance of Arda and destruction of opposition. Azog, the orc, is the great (relentless) foe bent on turning the world of Thorin to the earth (buried).

Galadriel:
Diamond: clear yet with true cut can have a rainbow of color.
Varda Elentari, Queen of the Stars was the light bringer and most enlightened and noble. Galadriel was close to Varda in the LotR and endorsed her powers.

Balin, Dwalin, Oin, & Gloin [In reply to] Can't Post

Balin:
Amythist: Well cut Purple gem. Brilliant yet having depth.
Patron Vala: Nienna, mistress of Sorrows, who was counselor, comforter, friend, and healer. Like Nienna, Balin is the "behind the scenes" comforter/leader.

Dwalin:
Jasper: a complex craggy mix of color (either white, orange, black...)
Turkas Astaldo, Champion of the Vala, who was fearless and powerful. Like Turkas, Dwalin is fighting in the front lines of the company.

Oin:
Beryl: when finely cut is light yellow and brilliant.
Aule, master of Earth and craft. Like Aule, Oin seems best with his craft (hearing problems limit joy of communication, I suppose).

Gloin:
Garnet: well cut produces a dark red gem (similar to ruby)
Vessa, enthusiastic dancer, was the cheerleader and mascot of the Vala. Like Vessa, Gloin is the most passionate and flamboyant.

Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori [In reply to] Can't Post

Kili:
Amber: is the opaque yellow fossil of sap that looks similar to Opals
Vana, the ever-young, was the light hearted explorer of the Valari. Like Vana, Kili seems like a fun-loving adventurer with a lot of "spirit".

Fili:
Aquamarine: Brilliant cut gem of light blue color.
Orome, the hunter, was master of bows and travel. Like Orome, Fili is a bowman plus true traveler of the world.

Dori:
Alexandrite: clear, cut gem with a hint of green or purple.
Irmo: Master of Dreams, is the even tempered visionary of the Valari. Like Irmo, Dori is father of spirits for brothers and friends alike.

Nori:
Bloodstone: a brilliant cut black gem with mysterious glow.
Vaire: the Weaver, was mistress of darkness and serious in purpose. Like Vaire, Nori seems like a "been there, done that" cynic of life.

Ori,
Pearl: soft, opaque, and round deposit of an oyster.
Este, the healer and "the gentle" was the peacemaker and teacher. If Ori was a scholar and this makes the most sense.

Bifur, Bofur, & Bombur [In reply to] Can't Post

Bifur
Melanite: Complex cut gem of black color.
Mandos, master of the dead, was a mysterious power with control of the after life plus prophetic of doom. Bifur is similar sense that ax looks like it could have taken his life (may have met Mandos for a little while, ehh??)

Bofur:
Agate: A yellow (and white or green) stone with a mix of color.
Tom Bombadil [Maier] was a jolly soul yet innocent of heart. Like Tom, Bofur is the modest and light-hearted friend.

Bombur:
Amazite: opague blue/green stone with a mixed luster.
Yavanna, lady of earth and living. Like Bombur likes plants and animals (well sort of...) [in a stew pot maybe]!!

Well, that's it. Don't take it tooo seriously. It's a more light hearted escape and representation of the company.
...investigate the jewels and Valari, though!... opinions??
