One step forward, two steps back :-) [In reply to] Can't Post

My advice would be; don't bother with Ruth Noel's book. It's simply not very good. Personally, I'm not all that keen on Tyler - if you're going for a guide, I'd recommend Robert Foster's Complete Guide to Middle-earth. It has page references - Tyler doesn't.

Some might think the Alan Lee edition is old - I remember buying my first copy of this edition back in '91.

In a pinch [In reply to] Can't Post

... you could check second hand sellers on Amazon. I've gotten some stuff at pretty reasonable prices this way. Do you have used book stores in the area you can check?

I'm sure you're on a student budget and you wouldn't want to buy something just for a paper. But since you are interested in Tolkien anyhow, some of these books might have more lasting value for you.

Also, maybe there is some Tolkien group in your area you could contact. I bet people have these books and would be willing to let you sit down and make notes from them if you meet up and buy them a cup of coffee and a Danish. Or maybe lunch.

I find Tolkien fans to be very generous people. :-)

Project is Almost finished at approximately 25 pages. [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been thinking about posting my project here after I turn it in to my teacher. My only issue is that since its just a simple English project my teacher isn't requiring much for the location of where pictures came from beyond: found on google images or Deviant Art.

So my question is do I need to be more thorough with credit to where I get my pics if I put my project here? Or a disclaimer that the pictures are not my own? Should I try and figure out where my 50 something pics came from again? Any thoughts?

Also, 25 pages...........This has been the project from a very bad place. Turning it in tomorrow and I can't begin to say how helpful all the suggestions for books were. :) Three weeks till the end of semester.
