I think... [In reply to] Can't Post

'The Red Book of Westmarch' suits quite well. After all, that book already is a 'union' of TH and LOTR.

And if not TRBoW, then it should just be 'The Lord of the Rings'. Because, after all, the entire six films are more or less about the rings and their Lord and the danger they pose to Middle Earth.

Middle Earth Marathon [In reply to] Can't Post

although as has been mentioned already, people will probably just refer to it as Tolkien stuff or Hobbits stuff.

Of all the previously mentioned ideas, I like The Chronicles of The Third Age best. Even though it probably has no chance, given its weak marketing potential. It has a beautiful nostalgic feel, yet it also feels like "history", and thus is very close to how Tolkien perceived his work.

The Red Book of Westmarch
is good, too, for similar reasons.

And, reading through some of the observations, indeed it suddenly strikes me as a fundamental flaw in the system that we should only have Two Trilogies. One is obviously missing.

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too.
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).

We have the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy, but will/should we have a name for all 6 films?

The Ring Cycle? Oh Wink There's absolutely no way on earth it's going to be called The Red Book of Westmarch; that's far, far too obtuse a reference for the casual blu-ray buying audience (although having the packaging inspired by it would be lovely). And whilst I like the Chronicle of the Third Age a lot, it, too, makes no explicit reference to anything immediately recognisable to the general public... ...so, The Middle-earth Saga it is, then.

"I've Got a Bad Feeling About This" // [In reply to] Can't Post

There it is: dwarves are not heroes, but calculating folk with a great idea of the value of money; some are tricky and treacherous and pretty bad lots; some are not, but are decent enough people like Thorin and Company, if you don't expect too much.

The Middle-Earth Collection [In reply to] Can't Post

Most film series that expand beyond a trilogy are usually labeled collections.
