1985 Russian Hobbit Movie! Can't Post

And you thought the Finnish version of Lord of the Rings was obscure!

Subtitles in the works, apparently, but the story requires no explanation (for us anyway). Enjoy!

Saw it [In reply to] Can't Post

And some of the things I remember most.

Galdalf the Glitter Queen
Bilbo putting on and taking off his scarf every time the doorbell rang(why??)
For no reason, Goblin Ballet.
And, again, for no reason, Ballet of Man.

Crazy

The scarf [In reply to] Can't Post

I think it's a Russian thing. You put on a scarf to open the door because its cold!!!

There it is: dwarves are not heroes, but calculating folk with a great idea of the value of money; some are tricky and treacherous and pretty bad lots; some are not, but are decent enough people like Thorin and Company, if you don't expect too much.

That'd make sense [In reply to] Can't Post

If he were putting the scarf on to open the door. But if you watch the vid, you see that he takes the scarf off to answer the door, and then puts it back on when he's showing the Dwarves to the table. Crazy

Animated LoTR's [In reply to] Can't Post

I have great admiration for what Ralph Bakshi attempted. Watch the remaster sometime, it looks amazing, for all its faults.

I don't mind this kind of thing. It's not like they had almost a decade to work on it, millions of dollars & complete creative freedom. If someone made a bizarre Hobbit movie with all of those resources, I'd be pretty miffed...oh....wait...yeah...
