Martin Freeman Unleashed Can't Post

The history of THE hobbit.

Sam: Trust a Brandybuck and a Took.
Merry: What? That was just a detour, a shortcut.
Sam: Shortcut to what?
Pippin: Mushrooms!

You are a star! [In reply to] Can't Post

I had meant to watch that, but it just got lost in the rush and I never got round to it. Have peeked at the first minutes on the laptop ( Martin's kitchen... we wantsss it, Precous!) but will watch the rest in more comfort on the desktop (larger screen, better sound) later.
Thanks very much for posting that link!

Fantastic episode of WDYTYA! [In reply to] Can't Post

Have to say that 'cause some of it was filmed in my village and parish church. Cool

My friend owns the house where Freeman's blind organist great-grandfather lived. She got to meet MF and show him round her house. The only bit that didn't get cut was her opening the front door to him, though!

great post! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for finding this!

My dad never talked much about WWII (he was in an American Service Battery, a supply line), but it was surely the most intense part of his life!

Tolkien's son was in WWII as well. As I'm sure many of your ancestors were.

Strange how we all have this connection to a real world "War of the Ring" and how it has affected our present world.

That was really interesting. [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for linking to it!

I can't imagine how difficult it is to be blind, but especially during a century without the technological help that the blind have today.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Wow! [In reply to] Can't Post

Not only do you learn about Martin's history, but a little bit about history itself.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd never heard of this program. It was just fascinating to watch, and makes you wonder what information you don't know about your own family. Great find!
