MMORPG's [In reply to] Can't Post

I think most, if not all, massively multiplayer online games have this problem:

I have a problem with the way some real-time games make demands that infringe on real every day life in order to stay competitive and/or have a positive game experience.

If you're a casual gamer, like me, you just enjoy immersing yourself in another world, and it feels like reading a book (I still read too). But these games are designed to suck you in more and more, so you need in-game money to do anything, and to get in-game money you have to spend time at it, and to join groups of other players you have to have the right armor and weapons, and that takes time, lots of time, everything takes time.

On the plus side, you can always do something a little different in these games, and they don't get old right away. The negative side is that these are social games, but if you don't devote a lot of time to them like the heavy duty players do, you don't fit in socially. Even seeking out other casuals doesn't work for the reason that casuals aren't online that much and don't schedule their lives around the game, so meeting up with each other is random at best. So there's the frustration that to enjoy the game, you have to play a lot more than you'd like to, whereas you can pick up or put down a book as much or as little as you'd like.
