The Trailers before The Hobbit Can't Post

When I saw The Hobbit today, it had so many trailers! Most of them were about the end of the world or life after the end of the world or aliens (or a combination of the three).
My question is, what did you think of the trailers? Were there any that excited you for 2013?
I thought the post apocolypic love story where the girl is taken over by an alien looked really good...until I found out it was by the sparkly vampire author. Now, I'm not so sureTongue
The Jack and The Giant Slayer movie looked like it could be really good, it reminded me of one of my favorite tv shows- Once Upon a Time.
I'm not a huge fan of Tom Cruise, but his movie looked like it could be awesome maybe.
I am a big fan of Matt Damon and think that The Promised Land sounds promising (if it isn't too preachy)
I can't remember the rest (lots of video game previews when I went also)

I usually just see one or two movies a year, and I'm already looking forward to The Desolation of Smaug. Now I'm just trying to figure out what else will be good to see.

So many sequels in 2013! [In reply to] Can't Post

I forgot that there will be an Iron Man 3, a Thor 2, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Guess I'm going to see a lot more than two movies next year!

We didn't see exactly the same trailers you did [In reply to] Can't Post

But still, we looked at each other and said, "These are supposed to make us WANT to see these movies?" Frankly, there wasn't a one that tempted us. And there were a couple that made us wonder why on earth the theater thought they'd appeal to the audience for TH.

I remember back in the days of RotK, the drawback of going to see it again and again was sitting through the same horrendous trailers again and again. I frankly can't remember the last time a trailer made me want to see the movie---unless it was one for The Hobbit, of course Wink

I would have enjoyed that one [In reply to] Can't Post

The short "Pi" trailers we've seen on TV were lovely. Maybe they'll show that one when we see The Hobbit at a different theater next week.

Life of Pi, Star Trek, Superman, Oz [In reply to] Can't Post

My favourite trailer was for Life of Pi. It opens on Jan 1 here, and is looking a definite must-see.

Do we find happiness so often that we should turn it off the box when it happens to sit there?

Ripped off! [In reply to] Can't Post

We only got two trailers. One was for the lamest looking thing about some teenager who has to wrestle with some sort of witchy dilemma (I lost interest after 10 seconds), and the other was for Life of Pi. I am so desperate to see this, but I have to wait until January.
And then we were subjected to a bunch of hideous and annoying advertisements (most of which are on TV most nights), which made me so grouchy. I didn't pay my $25 to sit through endless shouty ads telling me to buy stuff. *mutter, mutter* Mad

errr, no Life of Pi for us today [In reply to] Can't Post

it won't be in cinemas till next week. You'd think I'd bother to check if a movie is actually out before I make plans to see it. Crazy

Aw, Man [In reply to] Can't Post

everyone had better trailers than I did! I would love to have seen Superman and Life of Pi trailers.
I have googled the names of the movie trailers I saw and they were:
One post-apocolyptic movie was After Earth with Will Smith. I thought, another movie with Will Smith and aliens premiering in the summer. Yay.Tongue
The Twilight author alien movie was The Host. It looked ok as in "i'm going to rent it out of redbox for 1.00" ok.
The Tom Cruise end of the world movie was Oblivion. It might be promising, but again not must see.
Jack and the Giant Slayer.
The Promised Land.
then a commercial for a video game showed up- twice!

I think the trailer exes thought Hobbit movie goers were 13 year old boys who liked video games. Funny, my audience was all sorts of people, teens, 40-somethings like me, and old people. We loved the movie...but not the trailers...from the comments and laughs (and lack of laughs) I heard.
