*%#&@! No SAG nom for Andy Serkis!!

Seriously, what is it going to take to get Andy nominated? I would have thought the Screen Actors Guild as a nominating body would be most in favor of recognizing that mo-cap is no diffferent than any other performance. Riddles in the Dark is being singled out again and again in critical reviews as golden. Andy is giving a classic literary character a groundbreaking and classic performance. He deserves so much more recognition from his own industry. And AUJ is probably his last chance for Gollum to be awarded that respect.

Personally I lost all respect for those kinds of awards years ago because the guys that really work and do ground breaking stuff never seem to get the recognition they deserve. That and I completely threw out the Oscars as a legitimate award back when American Beauty won best picture. That movie was atrocious and just awful in every way. makes me cringe to think about it. Andy Serkis is an incredible actor and he deserves tons of awards for his work. I hope he knows that he has legions of fans. Maybe TORn should give him an award. Let's make one up and show the world that we love Andy!!

And even if he was nominated, he would never have one! I don't hold awards like this in high honour.

Win? No way! But I think a nomination is too long overdue.

Unfortunately, Andy is further hindered by the fact that gracing a mo-cap performance with a nom would be setting a precedent. And while I agree that many high-profile acting awards have become often dubious in their selection of nominees, they still carry prestige in this world and Andy deserves that big time.

It's his peers (generally speaking, of course) who are treating him like chopped orc liver. And that's what galls me.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. I fully expected to hate American Beauty going into it, and for the first half hour it was confirming my expectations. Then I realized what the director was doing. The whole thing undergoes a subtle and constant stylistic change as Spacey's character transformation unfolds, and the skill required to pull that off won me over and still amazes me. Probably around 8th on my all-time best list.
Man is but an ass if he go about to expound this dream.
