I'm so sorry your back is hurting [In reply to] Can't Post

I threw my back out the very morning FotR opened back in 2001. How well I remember sitting there in agony for about twenty minutes, until the utter enchantment of the movie took away the pain. Which is an example of mind over matter! I've had worse bouts of back pain since then, so you have my sympathy and wishes for a speedy recovery.

We're going to see The Hobbit tomorrow morning, and my reaction may be similar to yours, although I don't have nearly as much emotional investment in TH as I do in LotR. I'll pay special attention to the riddle scene, thanks to your hint.

Enjoy your holidays, and whenever you feel like chatting about Heyer, I'll be here Smile

Happy anniversary to you! [In reply to] Can't Post

What an auspicious date it is - the anniversary of a lovely couple *and* a Hobbit movie. :)

I've been kayaking, so haven't done much reading, but am some way into a sci-fi book called "Wool", which is quite engrossing. I haven't read sci-fi in years, but this is a good 'un. I've "met" the hugely successful author through a writing forum, and he, too, is a good 'un.

The Passing of Mistress Rose
My historical novels

Do we find happiness so often that we should turn it off the box when it happens to sit there?

Thank you, Kimi! [In reply to] Can't Post

Of course last year's anniversary was just lovely, since we were in Auckland and hanging out with a certainly lovely Kiwi couple. Smile

As for The Hobbit---we've now seen it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a lot of deja vu moments, which I noticed but which didn't detract, but oh my, I knew I'd love all the dwarves being (at long last) different characters instead one one amorphous blob. And I did. Armitage! Woo hoo! Blush

Next we're going to try the 3D HFR version...
