Sorry I am not quite certain I get the question, but... [In reply to] Can't Post

Are you asking about the flash back to the battle at the gates of Moria ?
I already explained that but ok :)
Dwalin is telling the great battle. How Azog killed the king, how the dwarves were loosing the battle. Then Thorin step up and fight Azog but his shield is trown away and he is about to die. Then he takes a log of oak and defend himself with it. Bloking every stroke. He eventually cut the left arm of Azor who retreat from the battle. The tied is reversed. Thorin stands in the dawn sunlight with its oaken log and leads the dwarves to the victory. But the price for their victory his really heavy. There are a few dwarves left.
But this story is not told to explaine the origin of "oakenshield" . It's because Thorin is worried after they hear the screams of some orcs at night. And Balin says that Thorin's hatred for the orcs goes back very far...

If we're awake enough [In reply to] Can't Post

my son and I may take your advice and hit Denny's. Wink

Arthur: What manner of man are you that can summon up fire without flint or tinder?
Tim: I... am an enchanter.
Arthur: By what name are you known?
Tim: There are some who call me... 'Tim'...?
Arthur: ...greetings, Tim the Enchanter.

No [In reply to] Can't Post

It's later.
The prologue only deals with the fall of Dale/Erebor and the exode of the dwarves.
It takes place at night.
If you ever saw the pic with several dwarves standing and looking at the camera at night in the wild, with Bifur on the right. It's the final shot of the scene, where every dwarf realise who Thorin realy is.

It's alright :) [In reply to] Can't Post

The Nazgul Crypt is not cut out, as far as I know...but pushed to film two.

Spoilers !!!

Gandalf is very intent on inspecting it, after the White Coucel, thanks to Galadriel...
And I suspect that film two will be heavy on Dol Guldur's plots...
With only the siege left for film three...

Yes, the exclusion of scenes was gleaned from what [In reply to] Can't Post

Notanelvishname and others, such as a couple of people on IMDB, mentioned about scenes being left out of the theatrical cut (Notanelvishname and someone on IMDB both described the film pretty much identically - stumbled across a thread full of descriptions which matched those posted in the ToRN Staff Spoiler threads - and so would appear to be legit).

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!
