Anyone know of any decent documentaries/ TV specials on Tolkien and/ or the film adaptations? Can't Post

(Not including DVD extras!!)

The only one I can recall is ‘Ringers, Lord of the Fans’, which was released in 2004 I believe (I haven’t seen it but I’d heard mixed things) and was narrated by Dominic Monaghan.

‘As they came to the gates Cirdan the Shipwright came forth to greet them. Very tall he was, and his beard was long, and we was grey and old, save that his eyes were keen as stars; and he looked at them and bowed, and said ‘All is now ready.’

Perhaps the most fascinating Individual in Middle Earth

National Geographic did one [In reply to] Can't Post

National Geographic Beyond the Movie - The Lord of the Rings

It has a pretty extensive website to support the documentary.

I'm not sure exactly how to read your and/or statement. Are you uninterested in documentaries only about Tolkien? Do you want them to be either Tolkien AND the movies or just about the movies?

The following list I think is only or pretty much mostly about just Tolkien. Not the movies.

I have this set although I haven't looked at them in ages. Can't remember much about them.

I also found one on Amazon Prime Instant Video called: The Real Middle Earth

This showed up with a google search:
J.R.R.Tolkien Master Of Middle Earth pt 1 Documentary

also check this page:

I would suggest you do your own google search. I just typed in : Tolkien documentaries
and got up quite a few hits.

Another documentary on Tolkien [In reply to] Can't Post

I cited this one a while ago in answer to a similar question: J.R.R. Tolkien - Master of the Rings - The Definitive Guide to the World of the Rings.
