For me, that was awful news! [In reply to] Can't Post

But it looks like everything turned out okay in the end!

I wonder how differently everything would be, if all the setbacks never happened? Hmmm ...

I could not have tackled all this Hobbit-despair without you all. [In reply to] Can't Post

Especially a couple of years ago when it was the bleakest Smile

So good to know I'm not the only one reacting that way to stuff like this! [In reply to] Can't Post

The first trailer was an insane experience, too...we know it was coming, but it was incredible seeing it actually unfold. I was totally hyper for a 24 hour period after that, despite not having slept due to excitement! Wink

Oddly enough family and friends never seem to understand that level of exitement...

Three moments for me [In reply to] Can't Post

The three moments that stand out for me:

1. The reveal of the 13 Dwarves. I believe we got them just a few at a time, in different media outlets, over about a week's time or so. I remember people piecing them together into group shots before an official one was released. Most people were pretty skeptical about some of the choices and excited about others, but there's no denying this was a big moment in terms of learning about the movie.

2. The first Vlog. Especially Christopher Lee at the end. Up to that point, as I remember, Christopher Lee hadn't been confirmed. So seeing him in the Vlog was huge.

3. The first trailer. Wow. Not only was this one of the greatest trailers made for any movie, but it set the tone that this wouldn't be a llight, fluffy Hobbit. This would be a dark, serious Hobbit. And perhaps most importantly, it was when we first heard Far Over The Misty Mountains and the accompanying defining theme for An Unexpected Journey.

Bonus:

4. Learning the importance of the Talking Purse here on TORN. I had previously barely noticed the Talking Purse, but I have come to learn through the great posters on this site that pretty much the entire first movie, and perhaps the whole trilogy, rests on whether the Talking Purse is included and how it's portrayed. I think we all will be very disappointed if the Purse only speaks in some sort of Purse language. If it isn't included at all or doesn't speak, I'm pretty sure the film is doomed to mediocrity.

all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us...
