If Peter Jackson (though highly doubtful) actually follows PETA's urging to create all their animals "in studio" that would be more jobs for keyframe 3D animators over mo-cap animators. After all, you can't really safely mo-cap a charging animal or one you wish to act aggressively. Beyond coaxing/training an animal to walk, run, sit, turn around or jump, mo-capping more extreme animal motions becomes extremely expensive, dangerous, and simply untenable.
