Production Diary Subtitles? Can't Post

It's awesome to see someone take the time to transcript the latest Production Diary!!!

What would be even cooler is that next step, which is to create subtitle tracks for each of the diaries. I'd love to re-watch all of them with the subtitles.

Has anyone made efforts along these lines?

Yes, I saw the transcript [In reply to] Can't Post

The transcript is the first step. The next is to create an actual subtitle track, like the ones found here:

http://subscene.com/
http://www.opensubtitles.org/en

Once we have the subtitles tracks for the production diaries, we can enable subtitles for the actual videos. It's pretty easy to do this in VLC. Naming them the same as the video (except for the extension) makes it even easier.

Also, once subtitle tracks are created, translators can create versions in different languages. It's probably a lot easier for translators get the subtitles first (rather than just the transcription), since the timing would have already been done for them.

I think Silverlode has made transcripts for nearly every Vlog [In reply to] Can't Post

If not all of them (I'd have to check). The resource is there if you wanted to do this.

I've done.... [In reply to] Can't Post

6, 7, 8, and 9. Rose Cotton did transcripts of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (we both did that one without realizing the other was also working on it!). I don't think anyone has done a transcript for the first one. Here are links for anyone who wants them:

That's awesome, but... [In reply to] Can't Post

...has anyone created subtitle tracks from those transcripts?

Like this:

Code
1
00:00:44,400 --> 00:00:47,092
The world is changed.

2
00:00:47,603 --> 00:00:50,295
I feel it in the water.

3
00:00:51,407 --> 00:00:53,974
I feel it in the earth.

4
00:00:55,878 --> 00:00:58,570
I smell it in the air.

5
00:00:59,282 --> 00:01:00,847
Much that once was...

6
00:01:01,384 --> 00:01:02,608
... is lost.

No. [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't have the time or the ability. If that is something you would like to take on, please do so. Smile

It would be an interesting project [In reply to] Can't Post

Converting the transcripts to subtitle format would let us view the subtitles while viewing the videos. That would be awesome!

If no one has done it yet, I might give it a shot. I've edited subtitles before (to correct typos, mostly), but never created them from scratch, so I don't know how much time is involved. If anyone else has any tips on which programs to use to make it easier, please let me know!

Also, if anyone has any interest in doing it, please post here, so that there's no duplication of effort! Maybe we can split up the task so that we can finish the project before the movie is released.

And once again, thank you for that : ) [In reply to] Can't Post

Both yours and Rose´s transcripts have been very helpful and shortened the process of subtitle-making for me to few days (from a week or two), not to mention the drop in the number of misunderstandings. Anyway, a good school in getting to understand another English accent Smile
