HI all please correct me- are these characters even mentioned in The Hobbit book?

As others have stated, Gandalf gives Radagast's name as a referral to Beorn, who knows the Brown Wizard. Saruman is the head of Gandalf's order and so his existance is implied in the "council of white wizards" that Gandalf mentions in front of Bilbo when they return to Rivendell.

Much more is made at the Council of Elrond of Saruman's contribution to the White Council's 2941 assault on Dol Guldur. And there is more in the LotR Appendices.

Good point. That was what I recalled- no mention of Saruman specifically, but an INFERENCE.
