Absolutely [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, he would be my second choice be it your vomit or not. Cool

I agree. I don't know how much love Spielberg would have I just know he's a great director IMO, and since that's what I'm basing my choice on I'm gonna roll with that.

I've never read Jackson wasn't a huge fan of The Hobbit. So I can't really say I agree with that until I read something actually from him. Jackson was pretty faithful to the source material in The Lord of the Rings with a few missteps but almost all hits IMO. A 100% faithful adaptation would have most likely bombed at the box office I'm afraid. Just don't know how much the GA would have gotten into it. Same I think can and will be said about The Hobbit.

Actually I would have to agree with SA [In reply to] Can't Post

The third potter film is the only one, for me, which shows any glimpse of being something beyond a moving illustration of the text.

Thanks for the armchair psychology, but no [In reply to] Can't Post

The reason I like the director is because I like his movies. Not the other way around.

But nice try! Smile

Have to agree with Fardragon here [In reply to] Can't Post

I hope Spielberg goes nowhere near the Middle Earth franchise. I also hope he isn't enlisted to direct any of the new Star Wars films.

Too schmaltzy and overly-sentimental, IMO. Though he does reign himself in admirably with Lincoln, with only a few slices of cheese in that one.

Not so for me [In reply to] Can't Post

I didn't even know who Cuaron was before I saw Prisoner of Azkaban. It was because of that film that I looked into his other work.

I believe Spielberg has already turned down Star Wars [In reply to] Can't Post

As have many big-name directors. No one seems to want to touch it.

Yup [In reply to] Can't Post

Though for me, I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien and Children of Men first. And when I saw the latter, I said to myself: That guy should have directed LOTR.

A few have hedged [In reply to] Can't Post

Favreau and Del Toro for example. No director is going to come right out and say they want it - it's bad for their career if they then don't get it.

Of the others, Joss Whedon is too contracted-up to Marvel to do it in the timescale. And I believe Peter Jackson is a little busy working on something right now too..

I vote for Kevin Smith.
