Actually now that I think of it (spoiler) Can't Post

Don't we now have confirmation that Gandalf makes a second trip to Dol Guldur alone, prior to the WC's attack? Given that we have seen Gandalf, alone, at Dol Guldur with Glamdring, which we now know he finds at Trollshaws?
I don't recall this being discussed, except as a possibility, but it seems important in that he must, therefore, have a narrative reason to go there after leaving the company.
Or am I missing something?

I think what isn't 100% certain [In reply to] Can't Post

Is Gandalf making a first visit to Dol Guldur, before the Unexpected Party.

And I don't think there will be a planned "White Council attack" on Dol Guldur - Gandalf goes in alone, and his allies, including Elrond, Radagast, Galadriel (probably), Beorn (possibly) and an Elven army (possibly) go in to rescue him.

A Far Dragon is the best kind...

If the movies go by the book in this instance... [In reply to] Can't Post

Gandalf goes to Dol Guldur first to retreive the map and key from Thrain. Before he presents it at the unexpected party. He could go and get the key and map before the trollshaws to present to Thorin. I don't see a huge problem with a change such as that.

So... [In reply to] Can't Post

Do we know if the Gandalf/Thrain fight seen in trailer 1 will still be seen in AUJ?

In the scene with Thrain from the 1st trailer [In reply to] Can't Post

There seems to be no evidence that Gandalf is in possession of Glamdring.

It is in an earlier shot, when Gandalf is alone, that he is holding Glamdring.
