Actually I think it should be "lies" not "eyes" [In reply to] Can't Post

...since it would make more sense - "All lies on the Hidden Door" in the sense of all hope lying on finding the Secret Door?

Pretty sure it's 'Ere break of day' [In reply to] Can't Post

And not 'and mend the ache'. 'Ere break of day' of course being part of the original song.

Itīs just simply the Hobbit [In reply to] Can't Post

Trying to find the words, I think this "Song of the Lonely Mountain", Thorinīs song basically, itīs simply The Hobbit.

I love it, listening to it and repeat again.

"Dear friend good bye, no tears in my eyes. So sad it ends, as it began"
Queen

So, are the lyrics...? [In reply to] Can't Post

the same poem the dwarves sing in the book?

I am wondering if the lyrics are the same Tolkienīs poem (I canīt hear that by my own cuz my books are in Spanish)

"Dear friend good bye, no tears in my eyes. So sad it ends, as it began"
Queen

Some lines are the same [In reply to] Can't Post

But most are different. They are, however, derivative of the original poem.

Oh I see [In reply to] Can't Post

I was thinking the same!
So, Thorinīs singing in the movie is closer to the poem. Different version from the same song and the same poem, they both are beautiful.

lyrics [In reply to] Can't Post

Far over the Misty Mountains rise
Leave us standing upon the height
What was before we see once more
Is our kingdom a distant light?

Fiery mountain beneath a moon
The words aren't spoken, we'll be there soon
For home a song that echoes on
And all who find us will know the tune

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the back of us yet
We'll fight as long as we live

All lies up a hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold

We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep, and dreams of gold
We must awake, our lives to make
And in the darkness a torch we hold

From long ago where lanterns burned
Until this day our hearts have yearned
A fate unknown, the Arkenstone
What was stolen must be returned

We must away ere break of day
To find our song for heart and soul

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the end of it yet
We'll fight as long as we live

All lies up a hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Till we get our long forgotten gold
Far away the Misty Mountains cold.

Posting for my own benefit, really. Look right?

Thorin's singing in the movie [In reply to] Can't Post

Contains exact lines from two verses of the poem in the book. The difference is that there are a number of missing verses.
