I also rather liked the way they handled the troll scene [In reply to] Can't Post

I was not imagining the dwarves in a particularly impressive light when they were popped into sacks by the trolls in the book. I also thought Bilbo's action (stealing the purse) was interesting, but very difficult to reconcile with common sense. Trying to save their ponies just feels more like something he might (foolishly) choose to do to prove his mettle, than stealing some swag.

The way it goes now, Fili and Kili get caught with Bilbo because all three seem to be young and foolish. Then the rest come to save them instead of wandering into camp in conveniently-sized groups. I think they will not look as much like chumps. Follow that with a fight with wargs where they account for themselves reasonably well, and I think we will not have Gimli's butt-of-every-joke syndrome.

A treademark of PJ's [In reply to] Can't Post

Is crossing the line between daring and tasteless.

That is, if it happened... [In reply to] Can't Post

I think I would faint.

Frito groaned. "I wish I had never been born," he said.

"Do not say that, dear Frito," cried Orlon. "It was a happy minute for us all when you were born."
