Agreed. I think that there needs to be one more. [In reply to] Can't Post

Trailer 1 - Introduced the dwarves and the quest. It's tone was darker and more moody and re-introduced us to Middle Earth

Trailer 2 - This trailer focused more upon character interaction... and gave us glimpses of different stages of the first leg of the journey. It's tone was light and comedic but still epic and adventurous.

Trailer 3 - My guess is this will bring the attention back to the quest as a whole and ultimately foreshadow some of the coming events a bit.

Define general beats. :P [In reply to] Can't Post

I would say they only know that it's about Bilbo, because they saw the trailer. And maybe they have heard about a dragon being involved. So, nothing really. Wink

I'm yet to see any of the spots on TV and the trailers in the cinema! [In reply to] Can't Post

Not once have I seen any of them.

I don't think that's a concern for the UK!

BTW... RED is developing a new Laser Projection system. [In reply to] Can't Post

Aside from the innovations of their cameras, RED is ushering in a new era of projection systems.

The laser projector they demoed at NAB in Las Vegas showed a clarity, contrast, richness and depth that makes me excited for the next 100 years of movie making.

Side note finished.

General beats [In reply to] Can't Post

Bilbo and some dwarves go on a journey to take back treasure from an evil dragon. There's a big battle at the end.

The synopsis on the ticket sites, here at tORN, and on the WB website break down the story pretty well. Plus the toys have pretty good descriptions on the back of them as well.

Not to mention the thousands of news articles that have been covering this movie and have revealed general plot details.

It's not exactly a secret.

I wouldn't bet in it [In reply to] Can't Post

Most people probably expect something similar to the LOTR trilogy. My guess is that the general public only know it's about a Hobbit and a Ring!

Agreed. You won't see mass adoption overnight. [In reply to] Can't Post

But you will see theaters putting them in and promoting them for their better fidelity.

Then they will transition to them like they did from film to DLP systems.

They need to show a new trailer... [In reply to] Can't Post

with a little more of the antagonists, more action bits and some cool money shots. And maybe a little less silliness. I've read some tepid reaction to the trailers online.

It'll be big regardless... [In reply to] Can't Post

because it's the LOTR prequel but it might be bigger with cool trailers. Or at least open bigger.

As you know, there are definitely a lot of factors that go into getting the word out... [In reply to] Can't Post

Fan Sites
Online Video Teasers and Trailers
Theatre Teasers and Trailers
Radio promotions
Social Networking (Facebook, Twitter)
Cross promotional branding (i.e. Denny's)
Bilboards
Posters

S.W.A.G.

Toys
Books
Magazines
News syndications

They all play a part... but nothing can of course replace the power of the good ol' fashioned grape vine.

Word of mouth is the most powerful tool.

I'm pretty sure they revealed much more of LOTR before their releases than they have of TH so far, so I'd not worry -too- much Escapist! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've already stopped tuning into all of the most recent spoilers

I'm abiding very well to the Kangi-pact WinkCool
Though I saw the 'Unexpected Dinner Party' behind the scenes thing however.

I've seen 1! [In reply to] Can't Post

When I went to see Skyfall at my local, new, LieMAX screen they played trailer 2. Was exciting. Apparently the UK 'book your tickets now!' tv spot aired last weekend during X-Factor. But I don't watch that so I didn't see it.

I thought it looked better in the cinema but my gf kept going on about how fake it looked - might not take her to see it, lol.

The general look of it [In reply to] Can't Post

Nothing in particular just the feel of it i think, maybe the CGI, or colours used for the shots.

Yeah im not entirely sure why she thinks that [In reply to] Can't Post

She was someone who thought the lotr looked realistic as well so i dunno, lol.

The only things i can come up with is the CGI is more obvious this time maybe, the more childish tone, much greater use of prosthetics or the colour grading?

I'm not sure but i know she isnt the only one, lol.
