Questions in the title: who is your favourite character from the four 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films?
As much as I like Jack Sparrow, my vote goes to his arch-rival Barbossa, played by the fantastic Geoffrey Rush. In film one he's the villain you love to hate, and he turns into the "bad but not so bad" guy in the following films. (Spoiler Alert) Plus his entrance at the end of Dead Man's Chest has to be one of the best movie endings of all time: no one was expecting that! He steals an entire 2 hour film in 10 seconds!
Oh, and he has an awesome hat!!!

The CGI on that dude is simply superb (whatever else one make think of the films). I just can't get over how well he interacts with the other characters, and especially his tentacle beard. Very well done. And, of course, Bill Nighy delivers a brilliant performance.
Jack Sparrow...that's Captain Jack Sparrow :)

Yes, it's the obvious choice, but there's no POTC without him. But I love all of the characters from the first film. And they all worked so well with, and against, each other. Jack is more interesting played against Will's idealism and romanticism. The chemistry between Jack and Elizabeth is wonderful; and she was a refreshingly human female lead. And yes, Barbossa was great fun. Rush took him to the very edge of being too camp, but held him back just enough. Brilliant tight-rope walk.
I have a lot of love for Geoffrey Rush's Barbossa, but Depp created an unforgettable, iconic character with Jack - the perfect Trickster. Also, one of the best "film entrances" ever.
Trickster - that's a good word for him

I love that he's a cool, swashbuckler while at the same time being a bumbling, goofball. And you're never quite sure how much is an act for trickster purposes and how much is the real Jack.

Legolas joins a band of pirates and assumes the new name 'Turner', trying to get in touch with his wild side after sitting around with a hair straightener for thousands of years.
