Major Spoilers Revealed in new LEGO® Hobbit Sets! Can't Post

LEGO® Fans worldwide are being treated to a series of early images of the upcoming 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' LEGO® Playsets. (We are deliberately not including imagery on this post because we are pretty sure they will be asked to remove in hours!) There are a variety of sources for images, but the best come from LEGO Toy Story News's Flickr Stream. Be warned, one set in particular reveals a previously unannounced 'change' to the story. We will describe the sets and a brief attempt to decipher each, but we'd love to hear your own conclusions and theories in our comments. There is also a video available of a very excited LEGO fan quickly going over all of the sets. A small heads up for the video - if you are looking for a clear description and accounting of each set - this isn't for you. He does seem very excited about mushrooms though! [Flickr Stream] [Video]- MAJOR SPOILERS! (Thanks to Mr. Spielbrick for the heads up!)

Riddles for the Ring - Featuring Frodo and Gollum and it looks like a small cave and Gollum's boat.

Attack of the Wargs - Very blurry - so can't make out specifics, but for sure Thorin, Bifur, a large Goblin/Orc on a white warg and a really cool LEGO® Tree. Looks like there are some cool flame pieces as well - some multi-colored. A little Gandalf magic?

The Goblin King Battle - Pics are blurry, but it looks to feature...Goblin King, three Goblins, Ori, Nori and Dori as well as Gandalf. The set looks immense with probably a lot of action items.

Barrel Escape - Features Frodo, Oin and Gloin and a few elves. Unfortunately we can't read the names.

Escape from Mirkwood Spiders - This should cause a bit of contraversy :) Here we can clearly see that Tauriel and Legolas are rescuing the dwarves from the spiders. Featured in the set Legolas, Tauriel, Kili and Fili.

As we mentioned, check out the pics from the Flickr Stream as well as a Video.

Is it really a 'major spoiler'? [In reply to] Can't Post

Can we actually take a lego set as something that will for sure happen in the film? In such case, what will happen with the naming of the sword? We saw a still already from the film where Bilbo is holding it or putting it away, don't remember, and mostly everyone assumed this was after the spiders scene.

And another thing, should i say Bilbo or Frodo, what the heck with that? Major spoilers and major typos.

Wait, even one more thing. If there's a lego set on the barrels scene, does that mean that it will be in movie one? Even if this was created before the addition of the third film, they could've decided to take it from the market if not. I don't know. Unimpressed

Escape [In reply to] Can't Post

This set is obviously the most interesting the descriptions. What I think is going to happen is these two will actually capture the dwarves after Bilbo has saved them.

Well, I remember reading an interview [In reply to] Can't Post

with Benedict Cumberbatch where he said he thinks the 1st movie will end with Smaug's eye opening. If so, we will definitely see the barrel scene.

That interview was before the trilogy announcement was made [In reply to] Can't Post

And when all signs indicated to the barrel escape being the climax of AUJ. Smile

It's all changed since then.

Very exciting! [In reply to] Can't Post

I love that we are getting to see all of these. I'll be picking them up as soon as they are available. I do believe that even though this is just a Lego set, we can expect to see Tauriel and Legolas rescuing the Dwarves from the Spiders in the second movie and possibly just dragging them to Thranduil's Hall in their spider wrappings. I can see it working from a movie perspective. My worry is that it will take away from Bilbo's heroism in the scene. I hope he is still a major part of driving away the spiders even if the Elves show up at the end for a cool action scene and snatch the Dwarves. It appears they put a note on the box that this a "preview" set which seems to be how they are dealing with releasing these sets that were originally for movie 1. Now that the scene won't be until movie 2, they are still going to release it, but call it a special trilogy preview set as it features a scene we aren't going to witness right away.

We still have no Lego versions for some of the Dwarves. Notably, Oin and Gloin. I feel like they are going to be the two least featured Dwarves based on images and products we've seen so far. I kind of assumed Gloin was going to get some of Gimli's personality for the films, so we'll see if that happens, but I'm wondering if Oin and Gloin are just going to be basic, "boring", Dwarves (though I don't believe in boring Dwarves) and everyone else is going to feature entertaining eccentricities.

I'm very excited to see what appears to be blue fire on the tree in the Warg Attack set, but sad to see no Gandalf. Riddles features Gollum's boat which leads me to believe the boat will be in the movie...a plus that I thought they might cut out. Goblin town looks like it's going to be the biggest set. I'm going to have fun building that one. It looks like it has several moving pieces which always make lego sets fun.

I can't wait! Sorry bank account.
