traverses a wide range of landscapes! Katahdin, at the northern end, is too rocky and tree-less. It's too bad the picture at Springer Mountain was not taken later in the year, that's from the tail end of winter in that area and the trees are sparse. Later in summer the ground is in full bloom! I did find some representative pics of the Trail as it passes through a corner of Connecticut, and traverses Massachusetts on its way to a great place for blueberry-picking, Mt. Greylock. And here's a pic from one of my favorite areas of Acadia. No tall mountains in the background, but these could do for foothills!
