A Dangerous Method [In reply to] Can't Post

but it was released here in January 2012 so the wait wasn't that long at all.

The Avengers came next for me.

Brave [In reply to] Can't Post

It looked like it was going to be good, and it was. I loved it a lot.

But the movie I actually loved the most was a surprise. My husband took me to see "Moonrise Kingdom", and I didn't know anything about it in advance. It was amazing.

The Avengers and Les Mis, also [In reply to] Can't Post

I really liked Pixar's Brave. I was looking forward to Dark Shadows, too, but that was rather a...mixed success.

Neither did I, and I thought I was the only one! [In reply to] Can't Post

There was a lot that was great about it, but there were two scenes in particular that surprised me in a not-good way.

I am glad other people are saying the same [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought i was going mad being the only one who could see this film was just an average popcorn flick not some great masterpiece. (i have noticed more people saying its not that great though, and from looking at BO and reviews i think it did its best domestically).

For me its the biggest let down of the summer and one of the most overrated films of the last few years at least.

As for what i was anticipating - quite a few, Avengers, Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises, Brave, Skyfall.

Having since watched Prometheus again i think my initial liking of it may have had a lot to do with the avengers being such a let down for me. When i watched it again it was ok but nothing great, lol.

The movie of my very limited cinema experience this year has been The Dark Knight Rises (yeah it has faults but its amazing nevertheless and lived up to expectations) though i am looking forward to Brave, Skyfall and obviously The Hobbit.

Gatsby just got pushed to Summer 13 [In reply to] Can't Post

Needless to say, I'm not very happy about this. At least I won't have to choose between Gatsby vs. another viewing of AUJ.

clearly our tastes in movies are very different [In reply to] Can't Post

Although I did look forward to "The Avengers" (Joss Whedon is my master) and will see "The Bourne Legacy." But I was most eager to see "A Dangerous Method," "The Pirates! A Band of Misfits" ("The Pirates! An Adventure with Scientists!" in GB), "Moonrise Kingdom," and "Brave." I'm looking forward to "Looper" and the film version of the musical "Les Miserables."

I actually... [In reply to] Can't Post

liked it MORE than I thought I would. I was expecting formulaic 'super-hero schlock' and while there was some of that, to be sure, there was smarter dialogue than I was expecting and while the plot was tired and worn it had much better characters so I was pleasantly surprised.

Well, it WAS Prometheus [In reply to] Can't Post

Great fun that turned out to be >_> At least I had Batman to make up for it.

Skyfall is the biggest up and comer for the year.

The Avengers and Spiderman [In reply to] Can't Post

I only went to see Spiderman once but I thought it was great and better than I expected after seeing the trailer. Avengers was just perfect all around and definitely one of those movies you have to go to a couple of times just because it's so awesome. Smile

The Avengers, but mainly because [In reply to] Can't Post

I really liked "Thor" and wanted to see more of the Loki / Thor storyline.
