Exactly [In reply to] Can't Post

In Reply To
I can see why the green tint annoys people, looking at the links you provided. But again, to me, I'm only ever going to notice when two screenshots are put together. It's knowing that it isn't the best quality that makes me want a fixed version, rather than noticing while watching.

Exactly. Whilst viewing it, your eyes do kind of adjust (to an extent!) and the hyperbolic claims of blue snow and green subtitles just belittled the whole issue and made people dismiss it as the extremist rants of a handful of AV geeks.

But it's quite clearly not. There are some major issues with this transfer. And, unlike you, I do notice them much more than I'd like to!!! Frown

Fans of Ghan-buri-ghan? [In reply to] Can't Post

I wrote this way back in the early Third Age. It's about time I took it out of mothballs. Cool

A song sung by the Riders of Rohan on their way through the Druadan Forest
(parody of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang")

buri-Ghân-Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân
buri-Ghân Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân
buri-Ghân Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân

Oh! you!
Little buri-Ghân-Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân
We love you!
And our
Live Pukel-man-Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Helps us through!
High! Low!
Through the woods we go,
On buri-buri we depend.

Ghân-Ghân
buri-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Our fine grass-skirted friend.

You're uncategorical;
A Wild Headman oracle,
A legend, historical, unseen!
You're more than spectacular,
To use the vernacular.
You're wizard!
You're smashing!
You're keen!

Oh! buri,
You! buri,
Little buri-Ghân-Ghân
Ghan-buri-Ghân-Ghân
We love you!
And buri,
Our buri,
Live Pukel-man-Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Helps us through!

High buri,
Low buri,
To the war we go,
On buri-buri we depend.
Ghân-Ghân,
buri-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Our fine grass-skirted friend!

Oh! You!
Little buri-Ghân-Ghân
With your little plan, Ghân
We love you!
And now
We'll do all we can, Ghân
Each and every man, Ghân,
What we'll do!

Near! Far!
Where the gorgûn are, oh,
With song and slaughter we'll descend!
Ghân-Ghân,
buri-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Our fine grass-skirted friend.

You're gnarled as a mountainside
Your beauty might be denied
But you'll be all Rohan's pride today!
We'll follow our favorite Wose,
Sweep in and surprise our foes,
And we'll keep the Dark Lord at bay!

Oh! buri,
You! buri,
Little buri-Ghân-Ghân
Ghân-buri-Ghân-Ghân
We love you!
And buri
Now buri
We'll do all we can Ghân
Each and every man Ghân,
What we'll do!
Near buri,
Far buri,
Where the gorgûn are, oh
With song and slaughter we'll descend!
Ghân-Ghân,
buri-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Our fine grass-skirted friend.

Ghân-Ghân,
buri-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Our fine grass-skirted friend.
Ghân-Ghân,
buri-buri-Ghân-Ghân
Fine grass-skirted
buri-buri friend!

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

Once noticed, you can't not notice it. [In reply to] Can't Post

I should have added that as well ^

Once you know the snow is blue, and the subtitles green, you can't help but not notice them! It's the same for the continuity errors and odd wig hairline Wink

That is pure brilliance Silverlode *thumbs up*!

I sat here and said it aloud as best I could to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tune ... it's more like a tongue twister Laugh

This is great!

Great [In reply to] Can't Post

Great, but a tad off topic, no? If I didn't know better, I'd think the Admin was trying to appease PJ with a derailure of the kind of topic.

Oh my [In reply to] Can't Post

Rivendell looks infinitely better in the EE Blu-Ray.

However, that cyan tint is awful.

Good thing I never planned on buying these...Not enough of a difference, IMO, to justify the cost.

Plus, the films aren't that good. Wink

For those of us reading in Threaded, this is but a small branching off the main stem. Besides, one has to take one's Ghan-buri-Ghan where one can find him. Tongue

I *love* this! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for reposting it. :D

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Sigh [In reply to] Can't Post

Sigh.

Are all the admins in collusion?

I'll just compensate with a little Google poetry of my own.

Green Tint, Caradhras, blue snow
Green eyes, green teeth, Orthanc
But Rivendell looks great
Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition Blu-ray
Impenetrable wall of silence
Peter Jackson, Andrew Lesnie, Warner Brothers
Process defect, disk exchange, color grading, blanket overlay, fade to green
Gladiator

Okay, well, I'll have to admit that Silverlode's poetry is far better than mine. My poetry needs work and it might have too much Green Tint in it, but you'll hear from everyeone that Peter Jackson says that's fine, except from Peter Jackson himself. I'll abide by his personal judgement on whether I've used too much green.

If someone buys the FotR or sees something on the net saying that the green tint is gone... [In reply to] Can't Post

please, please p.m. me.

I am currently not able to get to TORn as often as I would like, but I'd see a p.m. and I'd be exceedingly interested in buying a tint free FotR ee in blu.
