Birds' brains are amazing and it has been studied that their brains are much more 'dense' than ours, so if their brains were the size of ours, they would have taken over the world. (Aren't they, already?)
As a parrot owner it's pretty obvious that birds use a whole chunk of their brain to social stuff, making them able to live in flocks. No wonder they are so common in our planet.
And then of course there are even deeper examples of bird's social abilities and relationships with humans, such as Freedom the eagle, pretty amazing stuff.
